Effects of Juvéderm®
Juvéderm ® is a facial filler made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring agent in your skin, in a gel form. Hyaluronic acid fillers are preferred over collagen-based fillers by many individuals because they:
- Create a smooth skin surface
- Help hydrate the skin
- Replace lost volume to create a younger look
- Reduce and remove lines and wrinkles
- Are a naturally-occurring substance in your skin
Juvéderm® can be used for both men and women to reduce the telltale signs of aging and create smoother, fuller, more youthful skin in place of wrinkled and sagging skin. However, you should be aware that facial fillers like Juvéderm® cannot treat every type of facial aging issue. In cases of severe aging, Dr. Desai may recommend a facelift for men or facelift for women.
While Juvéderm® is recommended for treatment that lasts 6-9 months on average, Juvéderm® is the only facial filler approved for treatments of up to one year by the FDA, and many patients find that the benefits of Juvéderm® last longer.
Ideal Candidate for Juvéderm®
Juvéderm® is ideal for patients who:
- Have laugh lines or crow’s feet
- Have lines around their mouth and nose
- Show minor effects of aging
- Are allergic to collagen
- Would like to increase the volume of their skin
Juvéderm® Procedure
The procedure for using Juvéderm® is much like many other fillers available, such as Restylane. Dr. Desai will inject small amounts of Juvéderm® gel under your skin to fill in creases and lines and to restore the resilient appearance of your skin. Rather than creating a stiff look, it offers a natural-appearing wrinkle reduction with results that are immediately visible and allow you to return to your regular day almost immediately.
