Eyelid Surgery for Men

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

While the saying goes that your eyes are the gateway to your soul, they may also be the indicator of your age. As time progresses and your skin begins to lose its laxity, your eyelids begin to sag and droop into a tired and wrinkled shadow of what they were in your youth. While drinking lots of water and refraining from squinting may do some small part in keeping your eyes from aging, the only actual way to return the droopy skin around your eyes to its former youthful resilience is through eyelid surgery.

Eyelid surgery for men is often paired with a brow lift or other type of plastic surgery procedure available for men. Eyelid surgery will not change the shape of your eyes but can help remove wrinkles by removing the excess skin around your eyes and tightening the upper and/or lower lids to help you appear younger and more alert.

You can ask Dr. Desai if eyelid surgery is right for you, or if you may require a different type of procedure to achieve your aesthetic goals.

Please learn more about plastic surgery procedures for men available at Desai Center of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, serving Saint Augustine and Jacksonville, Florida, or schedule an appointment for a consultation by contacting Dr. Ankit Desai, Florida cosmetic surgeon, today.

Tummy Tuck

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Medically known as abdominoplasty, the tummy tuck is a very popular cosmetic surgery that men and women of all ages are seeking out; though not everyone is a good candidate for this surgery, those who are tend to be thrilled with the results. Jacksonville, Florida board-certified cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Ankit Desai, has performed this procedure on hundreds of patients; Dr. Desai even devised a procedure referred to as “lipoabdominoplasty.” In this procedure, Dr. Desai improves the appearance of the entire abdominal region by combining liposuction and abdominoplasty, hence the name lipoabdominoplasty.

There are basically two types of tummy tucks performed at the Desai Center of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery:

  • Mini-abdominoplasty
  • Full abdominolasty

As with any surgery, there are risks involved with a tummy tuck such as bleeding or infection; however, if you are in general health and follow Dr. Desai’s post-operative instructions to the letter, you should fully require and enjoy your new body in 1-3 weeks. Since each patient is unique, it’s difficult to pinpoint an exact number of days or weeks you will need to recover. Tummy tucks are performed under general anesthesia and usually require a one-day hospital stay. Again, since each patient is unique, your stay in the hospital could be longer, though it’s rare.

With so many cosmetic surgery financing options available today, we are confident there is one to fit your budget.

If you live in or around the Jacksonville, Florida area and would like to learn more about tummy tuck surgery, please contact Dr. Ankit Desai today.

Liposuction

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Sometimes fat just does not go away no matter how often we exercise and how well we stick to a healthy diet. Thankfully, there are alternatives to get rid of that stubborn fat that may be affecting your self-esteem and your overall health.

There is a procedure called “liposuction” that can be very effective in removing the fat deposits that diet and exercise could not. Though not all people are good candidates for this procedure, chances are if your health is good and you meet certain other requirements, board-certified Jacksonville, Florida cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Ankit Desai, can perform liposuction on those troublesome areas of your body. Dr. Desai has performed this procedure on thousands of patients; typically, liposuction is performed on the:

  • Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs
  • “love handles”
  • Calves
  • Ankles
  • Back
  • Upper arms
  • Breasts

After a thorough evaluation, Dr. Desai will discuss the various options in liposuction he offers and explain which one is best for you and why. Liposuction can be performed under general or local. You will be instructed to wear compression garments for the first few weeks following your procedure. All incisions are less than one centimeter and will be virtually invisible to others.

Recovery from liposuction is fairly rapid. If you follow all post-procedure instructions, you should be up and around and back to work in no time. Since each patient is unique, it’s difficult to pinpoint an exact number of days or weeks you will need to fully recover.
If you want liposuction and live in Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra or anywhere in the surrounding area of Florida, please contact the Desai Center of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery today to schedule an appointment.

Face Lifts That Give You the Results You Want

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Not all nip and tucks will give you the overall results desired for a face lift procedure. However, by consulting with a skilled and qualified surgeon, you can learn what procedures are possible for reclaiming the years that have slipped away.

Give too many questioning looks and you’ll eventually notice horizontal lines have formed in your forehead. Over time, those lines cut across youthful skin making you look much older. Gravity and sun damage age the face causing it to sag, droop and fall in places not previously thought possible. Eventually, you’ll spend stolen moments in front of a mirror wondering if a face lift can give you that younger look you see when your fingers pull the skin taut across your face.

More than just a Lift – Facial Procedures that Matter

Choosing the right type of face lift surgery to achieve the youthful results you hope are possible often requires the advice of an experienced cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon. If you don’t choose a surgeon skilled in all cosmetic procedures, you may not end up with the results you had in mind before surgery. In addition to a regular face lift, some of the procedures your face may require include:

Now, more than ever, you have options that can turn back the clock on your face. Dr. Desai at the Desai Center of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in Jacksonville, Florida can examine your face to help determine the procedures necessary to regain your youthful appearance.
