Choosing breast implant shape is one of the aspects affecting the final look of your breasts. Breast implants come in two shapes:

  • Round
  • Anatomical (teardrop)

During your consultation, we will discuss which shape is right for you.

Both breast implant shapes have a small risk of rotating in the breast pocket. If rotation occurs with teardrop shaped implants, the breast may look unnatural. For this reason, teardrop implants have a textured surface to prevent rotation. Rotation is unlikely anyway, especially when your breast augmentation is performed by a board-certified and experienced plastic surgeon.

Anatomical breast implants are supposed to look more like a natural breast, with fullness at the bottom that tapers off to the top. Some patients choose teardrop implants for this reason, but round breast implants ultimately create a natural breast shape too: They become fuller toward the bottom when you stand up, and become rounder when you are lying down.

Your breast implant size, shape and profile will all be tailored to achieve the look you want.
