A breast reduction mammoplasty involves the removal of excess breast tissue, skin, and repositioning the nipple to a higher location. Traditional methods of a breast reduction resulted in the breasts “bottoming out” over time. Our talented plastic surgeons perform breast reductions to maximize projection, minimize scarring, and aim to maintain nipple sensation. This process results in a breast lift at the time of breast reduction surgery. To best preserve the sensation to the nipples, the nipples remain attached to breast tissue and incisions are made to maintain the optimal blood flow and sensation. A vast majority of our patients do not require drains placed for breast reduction surgery. Some women have excess tissue and fat along the sides of their breast (under the armpit). This area can be addressed during a breast reduction with liposuction to smooth the side of the breast providing better contour.

If you have any questions regarding breast reduction surgery please do not hesitate to contact Florida Plastic Surgery Group and we would be happy to address any of your concerns.
