What is a labiaplasty?  A labiaplasty is sometimes referred to as “labia rejuvenation”. It is the surgical procedure to reduce the size or correct asymmetry of the labia minora in an outpatient setting. Many of our patients report the increased size of the labia can cause irritation, difficulty with sexual intercourse, discomfort during exercise, and/or undesirable visibility when wearing a swimsuit or tight fitting clothing. This labia enlargement or asymmetry is very common and can be genetic or can occur after child birth. This procedure can both relieve the psychological and functional complications associated with an enlarged labia minora. Women that are excellent candidates for this procedure are those who have either a psychological or functional impairment or asymmetry of their labia minora. We most often preform this outpatient surgery in our office under local anesthesia. We use all dissolvable sutures and advise the patient to avoid sexual intercourse and exercise for 4 weeks to allow the area to fully heal. During your consultation you will discuss your questions and concerns with regards to this procedure prior to any examination. We at Florida Plastic Surgery Group greatly respect and understand how personal a labiaplasty is and we strive to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

Please feel free to contact Florida Plastic Surgery Group to schedule a labiaplasty consultation, and we look forward to meeting you.
