Blog Series on Liposuction:  The ten things you’ve been wanting to know.

Number 1/10:

Q: If I gain weight after liposuction surgery will fat come back to that area?

A: Liposuction is an elective surgery that removes adipose (fat) cells. We have a certain number of fat cells that swell and shrink as we gain and lose weight. For example, if you gain 20 pounds you are not gaining more fat cells, your existing fat cells are swelling or growing. Liposuction decreases the number of fat cells in your body, but the remaining cells can increase in size if you do not maintain a healthy diet and exercise.
