Buttock Augmentation – Brazilian Butt Lift
Buttock or gluteal augmentation, often referred to as a Brazilian Butt Lift, is becoming one of the more popular body contouring treatments available. This technique uses your own fat to help create fuller, rounder, more defined buttocks. With the Brazilian Butt Lift, younger patients can create a rounder butt and older individuals can restore the fullness and shape they once had.
Our plastic surgeons in Jacksonville take the utmost care to ensure a customized approach and a successful outcome for your Brazilian Butt Lift treatment. The procedure is performed by using liposuction to remove excess fat from another area on your body, such as the abdomen, upper thighs, inner thighs, lower back, or hips. The fat is carefully harvested and is then processed to remove any excess fluid. The fat that remains is pure and is re-injected into precise areas of your buttocks to create a rounder, fuller backside. Since some of the fat will resorb with time, a little more fat is injected into the buttocks at the time of surgery to compensate for this anticipated volume loss. The added benefit of a Brazilian Butt Lift is that unwanted fat from another body area is removed through the harvesting process. Only small incisions (typically less than 1 cm) are used, so any residual scarring from the treatment is typically minimal. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
At Florida Plastic Surgery Group, we believe that patients, their desires, and anatomy are all unique. Therefore, our doctors evaluate each patient and create a customized surgical plan to meet their expectations. Our doctors use the latest techniques to create the best possible results.
Preparing for Your Buttocks / Gluteal Augmentation
Who is a candidate for buttocks / gluteal augmentation surgery?
Any patient who wants to change the shape and fullness of their buttocks and is in good health overall is typically a candidate for buttock augmentation using the Brazilian Butt Lift technique. If patients want to add significant fullness, they will need to have an adequate amount of fat elsewhere from which to harvest. Our experienced plastic surgeon will meet with you for an initial consultation and talk with you about whether this procedure is ideal for your unique needs.
How do I prepare for my buttock augmentation surgery?
We ask patients to stop taking medications that may increase bleeding, including aspirin, Plavix, NSAIDS (i.e. ibuprofen, Advil®, Aleve®, etc.), and herbal supplements like vitamin E. Patients should be in good health and ensure they have their blood pressure controlled.
Recovering After Your Brazilian Butt Lift
You will be asked to limit direct pressure and refrain from sitting directly on the buttocks for three weeks. By avoiding pressure to this area, the amount of fat that survives is maximized. Some modified chairs and recliners can often be used during this period to reduce limitations to your comfort. In addition, patients should avoid nicotine products to ensure the best blood flow to the newly injected fat. Patients may require a second stage of Brazilian Butt Lift treatment to create the most optimal results.
