Arm Lift

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a procedure that can tighten the skin and remove the excess fat in your upper arms. Do you have sagging upper arms that some refer to as “bat wings”? An upper arm lift can make your arm tighter and slimmer, creating a healthy and more youthful appearance.

At the Florida Plastic Surgery Group, we believe that our patients, their desires, and their anatomy are each unique. Therefore, our doctors use one-on-one evaluations to create a customized surgical plan for every patient to meet their expectations. Our plastic surgeons use the latest techniques in the field to create a natural, younger appearing you.

Upper Arm Liposuction

Liposuction and fat contouring can give a slimmer more youthful look to your arm. Patients who do not have an excess of skin but have some areas of excess fat are excellent candidates for upper arm liposuction. The procedure uses small incisions but the results can be very rewarding.

The Arm Lift / Brachioplasty Procedure

brachioplastyAn Arm lift (brachioplasty) removes excess skin and fat of the upper arms. There are a number of different ways to perform a brachioplasty, including the mini-brachioplasty, L-brachioplasty, and standard brachioplasty. The mini-brachioplasty is a minimally invasive approach that hides the scar in the armpit. However, for patients with a lot of excess skin, a different approach will be required. An L-brachioplasty is most often used in patients that have lost a significant amount of weight (i.e. after bariatric surgery / gastric bypass). The procedure can also be combined with an upper body lift or breast lift to maximize your aesthetic result. Depending on your body type and requirements, our doctors will discuss your options with you to help you decide which procedure best suits your desires.

Preparing for Your Arm Lift

Who is a candidate for an arm lift / brachioplasty?
Men and women who desire to improve the shape and contour of the upper arm are candidates. In addition, patients who have lost a significant amount of weight, such as patients who have undergone bariatric surgery, are excellent candidates.

How do I prepare for my arm lift / brachioplasty?
We ask patients to stop taking medications that may increase bleeding including aspirin, Plavix, NSAIDS (i.e. ibuprofen, Advil, Alleve, etc), and herbal supplements like vitamin E. Patients should be in good health and ensure they have their blood pressure controlled. A healthy diet and avoidance of all nicotine products are also essential to help ensure proper healing and excellent results from your arm lift surgery. In addition, nutritional supplementation is an important part of the healing process. We encourage all of our patients to begin protein shakes or juices 3-4 weeks before and after surgery.
