Breast Lift with Implants
For many women who are considering options to renew the appearance of their breasts, a breast lift combined with breast augmentation can address multiple concerns in a single procedure. It’s very common for the breasts to take on a “sagging” appearance due to the natural aging process, genetics, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or other factors. The accumulation of excess skin among the breasts can also be accompanied by a loss of breast volume, and while breast implants can restore fullness to the breasts, a breast lift can be performed at the same time to improve firmness and give the breasts a more youthful, “perky” appearance. Breast lift with implants, medically referred to as an augmentation mastopexy, can achieve these goals with beautiful, natural-looking results.
Benefits of Breast Lift and Augmentation
Breast lift combined with breast augmentation offers numerous benefits for patients who would like to improve the appearance of their breasts, including:
- Reduction of excess breast skin and signs of “sagginess” or a drooping effect
- Tightening of remaining skin and lifting of the breasts and nipples to a higher position on the chest
- Restoration of breast fullness and shape for patients who may have lost volume over the years
- Added volume for patients who simply desire larger, firmer breasts for a more comprehensive breast rejuvenation
One of our experienced plastic surgeons here at Florida Plastic Surgery Group will meet with you for an initial consultation to talk about your needs and goals. For some women, a breast lift without implants or a breast augmentation alone is enough to address their concerns; however, for patients who clearly desire a larger bust and the elimination of a sagging appearance, a combination of the two procedures may be the ideal option. Once you have been evaluated and our doctor has answered all of your questions, he can create a customized treatment plan designed to meet your ultimate goals.
The Augmentation Mastopexy Procedure
During the consultation process, you will choose the best type of breast implants for your needs, as well as the size and shape. Our plastic surgeon will also go over all aspects of the procedure so you will know what to expect on the day of surgery as well as throughout the recovery process. A breast lift with implants procedure typically takes about one to three hours to perform, depending on your unique needs. Excess skin along the breast will be removed and the breasts and nipples will be elevated to a higher position. Then, the breast implants will be inserted. In many cases, the implants are placed under the chest muscle to provide a more natural-looking result. Our surgeon will make every effort to minimize the appearance of residual scarring from this procedure.
The breast lift with implants procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis and under general anesthesia.
Recovering After Your Breast Lift with Implants Procedure
Many patients can resume normal daily activities after about two weeks of rest; however, some patients may need more or less time for adequate healing. You will experience some bruising and swelling in the breasts in the weeks and months following the augmentation mastopexy procedure, but these effects should gradually fade, and any discomfort during the recovery process can typically be controlled with medication. A special type of bra may be recommended for use during the first few weeks after surgery to aid the healing process. Strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks after surgery.
